AARDVARK/FINISTERRE

2012 marked the 10th anniversary of the first release by Andy Murkin on the Fortspring label, From Aardvark to Zebra (2002 FORT 01); 2013 is the 10th anniversary of the second release, Goodbye Finisterrre (2003 FORT 02).

Fortspring is commemorating the occasion with the release of a special 4-album set.

First of all, the set includes the two original discs, From Aardvark to Zebra and Goodbye Finisterre. The third disc, Related tracks, includes pieces which were recorded at the same time as the two albums and released elsewhere, and some demo pieces recorded earlier, during the process of selecting the final tracks to be recorded.

The fourth disc, Early Days, comprises a number of recordings made over the 30 years prior to the release of the first album, From Aardvark to Zebra, none of which were expected to see the light of day. The recording quality is variable, I think it's fair to say, but accurately represents the instruments and technology available to me at the time and the conditions in which the music was created.
